Invisible Braces Prices
All prices below are inclusive of VAT. Member pricing applies to SPMD dental membership holders; membership terms apply. Your individual fee is confirmed in writing after consultation because the final cost depends on case complexity, the number of aligners required, any additional procedures (attachments, interproximal reduction) and your chosen retainer.
| Treatment | Standard | Member* |
|---|---|---|
Easy Align (mild cases, up to ~4 months) Suitable for mild adjustments — minor crowding, small gaps, or relapse after previous orthodontic treatment. Number of aligners depends on the case. | From £2,000 | From £1,000 |
Smart Align (moderate cases, up to ~17 months) Suitable for moderate corrections and full-arch movement. Most common tier. May include attachments and limited interproximal reduction (IPR) where clinically indicated. | From £4,000 | From £2,000 |
Ultimate Align (complex cases, up to ~20+ months) Comprehensive realignment for complex cases, including larger arch corrections. Includes a longer refinement window for further adjustments after the main sequence. | From £5,980 | From £2,990 |
Removable Retainer (per arch) Vacuum-formed removable retainer worn after active treatment to hold teeth in place. Retainers are normally required indefinitely to prevent relapse. | £300 | £150 |
Fixed Retainer (per arch) A thin wire bonded to the back of the front teeth for long-term retention. Usually used in combination with a removable retainer at night. | £350 | £175 |
Replacement Retainer (per arch, if lost or broken) Lost or damaged retainers can be replaced. New impressions or a scan may be needed. | Quoted at consultation | Quoted at consultation |
Aligner Consultation & Suitability Assessment A short clinical discussion with a GDC registered dentist to assess whether clear aligners are a suitable option for your case. A separate fee may apply if a full diagnostic workup, photographs and X-rays are required to produce a treatment plan. | Complimentary short consultation | Complimentary short consultation |
Dental X-ray (per image, if needed) Charged per image if clinically required to assess root position, bone levels or other anatomy before treatment. Not included in the aligner fee. | £20 | £10 |
Refinement Aligners Refinement aligners (additional aligners after the main sequence to finish the result) are included within each tier’s refinement window. Outside that window, additional fees may apply. | Included | Included |
Composite Bonding / Whitening (optional add-ons) Many patients choose whitening or small amounts of cosmetic bonding to finish the result. Priced separately — see our composite bonding and teeth whitening cost pages. | Quoted at consultation | Quoted at consultation |
How your individual fee is decided
Clear aligner treatment is priced in tiers based on case complexity and expected treatment length. The exact figure for your case also depends on whether attachments or interproximal reduction (IPR) are needed, the type of retainer chosen, and any optional add-ons such as whitening or finishing bonding. Imaging is not included — dental X-rays are charged at £20 per image (£10 for members) if clinically required. Retainers are essential after treatment and may be lifelong.
* Member pricing applies to SPMD dental plan members. Plan fees and membership terms apply. 0% finance is available subject to status; lender terms apply.

Are Clear Aligners Right For You?
Clear aligners can treat a wide range of cases discreetly and effectively, but they are not suitable for every situation. Severe rotations, larger arch discrepancies, complex bite corrections and some growth-related orthodontic problems may be better treated with fixed braces or referred to a specialist orthodontist. For purely cosmetic alignment of front teeth, composite bonding or veneers are alternative options — but these do not actually move teeth. Your dentist will explain the most appropriate option for you at consultation.
Things to know
- Aligners must be worn 20–22 hours a day, every day, removed only for eating and cleaning. Treatment time, cost and results all depend on your compliance.
- Mild tenderness for a few days when starting a new aligner is normal; a temporary lisp is common in the first week.
- Many cases require small composite attachments bonded to certain teeth, and some require interproximal reduction (IPR) — a small, controlled reshaping of the contact between teeth. These are normal parts of clear aligner treatment and are explained in writing in advance.
- Refinement aligners are common — most cases require some after the main sequence to finish the result. Refinements are included within each tier's refinement window.
- Retainers are essential after treatment and should be considered a lifelong commitment to prevent relapse. Lost or broken retainers can be replaced for an additional fee.
- Risks include temporary sensitivity, gum irritation, the small risk of root shortening (root resorption), and decay or white spots if oral hygiene or diet are poor with aligners in.
- Clear aligner treatment at our clinics is delivered by GDC registered dentists with experience in clear aligner orthodontics. We do not describe our dentists as "specialist orthodontists" unless they are on the GDC orthodontics specialist list. Complex cases may be referred to a specialist orthodontist where appropriate.
- We do not recommend mail-order or "DIY" clear aligner systems because of significant clinical safety concerns raised by the GDC, the British Dental Association and other UK orthodontic bodies.
- Quoted fees are confirmed in writing in your individual treatment plan; prices on this page are subject to change.
- You are welcome to take time before deciding and to seek a second opinion if you wish.
If at any point you are unhappy with your care, we welcome your feedback. Our complaints procedure is published on our website and a copy is available on request.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much do invisible braces cost in London?
At our Medical & Dental clinics in London, ProAligners (our clear aligner system) are priced in three tiers based on case complexity. Easy Align is from £2,000 for mild cases (up to around 4 months). Smart Align is from £4,000 for moderate cases (up to around 17 months). Ultimate Align is from £5,980 for complex cases (up to around 20+ months). SPMD dental members receive a reduced fee (membership terms apply). Your individual fee is confirmed in writing after consultation because the final cost depends on case complexity, the number of aligners required, any additional procedures (such as attachments or interproximal reduction) and your chosen retainer.
Why are clear aligners cheaper or more expensive than the figures I see online?
Mail-order or "DIY" clear aligner companies are typically cheaper because there is no in-person clinical examination, no X-rays and limited dentist supervision. We do not recommend that route because the British Dental Association, GDC and many UK orthodontic organisations have raised significant safety concerns about it. At-clinic clear aligner pricing varies between providers based on case complexity, the number of in-person reviews included, whether retainers and refinements are included, and whether attachments or interproximal reduction are needed. We are happy to provide a clear, itemised written quote at consultation.
What is included in the price?
Your fee includes the clinical assessment by a GDC registered dentist, a digital scan or impressions, the laboratory-produced aligner sequence, progress check-ups during active treatment, any attachments needed to move teeth, and refinement aligners within the relevant refinement window. Dental X-rays are charged separately at £20 per image (£10 for members) if clinically required. Retainers (essential to prevent relapse) are charged separately for the Easy Align tier; the Smart Align and Ultimate Align tiers each include two retainers.
How long does treatment take?
Treatment time depends entirely on the complexity of your case and your compliance with aligner wear. Mild cases (Easy Align) may finish in around 4 months. Moderate cases (Smart Align) typically take up to around 17 months. Complex cases (Ultimate Align) can take 20+ months. Wearing your aligners for the recommended 20 to 22 hours a day is the single most important factor in finishing treatment on time.
Will I need attachments or interproximal reduction (IPR)?
Many clear aligner cases require small tooth-coloured composite attachments bonded to certain teeth to help the aligners apply specific forces. Some cases also require interproximal reduction (IPR) — a small, controlled reshaping of the contact between teeth to create space. Both are common in clear aligner orthodontics. Whether your case needs either is decided after clinical assessment and your dentist will explain this in writing before treatment starts.
Are clear aligners as effective as fixed braces?
Clear aligners can treat a wide range of cases very effectively, but they are not suitable for every case. Severe rotations, complex bite corrections, large arch discrepancies and some other situations may be better treated with fixed appliances or referred to a specialist orthodontist. Your dentist will be honest at consultation if clear aligners are not the best option for your case.
Are your dentists specialist orthodontists?
Clear aligner treatment at our clinics is provided by GDC registered dentists with experience in clear aligner orthodontics. The term "specialist orthodontist" is reserved by the GDC for dentists listed on the GDC specialist list in orthodontics. If your case is complex and would benefit from specialist orthodontic input, we will discuss that with you at consultation, including the option of referral.
Will I have to wear retainers forever?
Yes — retainers should be considered a lifelong requirement after any orthodontic treatment. Teeth naturally have a tendency to move ("relapse") throughout life, with or without previous treatment. Most patients use a combination of a fixed retainer (a thin wire bonded behind the front teeth) and a removable retainer worn at night. Retainers occasionally need adjustment, replacement or rebonding over the years.
What are the risks of clear aligner treatment?
As with all orthodontic treatment, potential risks include temporary discomfort or speech changes when starting a new aligner, gum or tooth sensitivity, the small risk of root shortening (root resorption), white spots or decay if oral hygiene is poor, occasional need for further refinement aligners, and relapse if retainers are not worn as instructed. Attachments and IPR are usually well tolerated but involve permanent (IPR) or temporary (attachments) changes to the teeth. We discuss all of this in writing before treatment.
Will my teeth be sensitive during treatment?
Mild tenderness for 1–3 days after starting a new aligner is normal and usually managed with over-the-counter pain relief. Some patients also notice a temporary lisp during the first week of treatment that resolves as the tongue adapts. If discomfort is persistent or severe, you should contact us so we can review your case.
Do you offer payment plans for invisible braces?
0% finance is available subject to status and lender approval; terms apply. We will explain the available options and any deposit requirements at consultation. Treatment can also be paid in stages aligned with the start of active treatment.
Are the results guaranteed?
No dental practice in the UK can guarantee a specific orthodontic outcome. The result depends on the biology of your teeth and supporting bone, the suitability of clear aligners for your case, your compliance with aligner wear, and lifelong use of retainers afterwards. We will be honest at consultation about what is realistic for your case in writing before any treatment goes ahead.
What are the alternatives to clear aligners?
Alternatives include fixed metal or ceramic braces (sometimes faster for complex cases), lingual braces (fixed appliances on the inside of the teeth), and — for purely cosmetic alignment of front teeth — composite bonding or veneers (which do not actually move teeth). For complex bite problems, referral to a specialist orthodontist may be the most appropriate option. Your dentist will explain the most appropriate option for you at consultation.
