About the Diabetes & Kidney Screening London
Looking for Diabetes & Kidney Screening London near me in London? Medical and Dental offers this screening at two Central London locations: South Kensington (20 Old Brompton Road, SW7 3DL) and the City of London (5 Ave Maria Lane, EC4M 7AQ). This screening includes 3 biomarkers with results available in 2 working days, priced at £199 inclusive of blood draw by a registered nurse.
Diabetes affects approximately 4.3 million people in the UK, with an estimated 850,000 additional cases undetected, according to Diabetes UK. This screening measures HbA1c, which reflects average blood glucose levels over the preceding 8–12 weeks, and fasting glucose for current blood sugar assessment. These markers are used to identify diabetes and pre-diabetes (impaired glucose regulation), which the NHS estimates affects around 13.6 million people in England.
Kidney function is closely linked to metabolic health. This screening includes estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR), creatinine, urea, and electrolytes to assess how well the kidneys are filtering waste. Chronic kidney disease (CKD) affects around 1 in 10 people in the UK, and early-stage kidney changes often present without symptoms. Routine testing can help identify changes in kidney function before they progress.
Medical and Dental operates from two Central London clinics. Our South Kensington clinic is open seven days a week with flexible hours. Our City of London clinic is open Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM. To book your Diabetes & Kidney Health Screening at either location, call 020 7183 2362 or book online.

Metabolic and Renal Health Assessment
Over 4 million individuals in the UK have diabetes, with many remaining undiagnosed. Uncontrolled hyperglycaemia is a leading cause of nephropathy, cardiovascular disease, and retinopathy. This panel detects diabetes and prediabetes, and includes microalbumin measurement which can identify early kidney damage before standard renal function tests become abnormal.
Early detection of diabetes and prediabetes
HbA1c reflects glycaemic control over 2-3 months
Microalbumin identifies early diabetic nephropathy
Results inform lifestyle and clinical intervention
Monitor glycaemic control in known diabetics
Straightforward screening with minimal preparation
Who Should Take This Test?
Established Risk Factors
Family history of diabetes, overweight or obesity, sedentary lifestyle, or history of gestational diabetes increase type 2 diabetes risk.
Adults Over 40
Type 2 diabetes prevalence increases with age. Periodic screening is appropriate from age 40, or earlier with risk factors.
Known Diabetics
Regular HbA1c and microalbumin monitoring ensures adequate glycaemic control and identifies complications early.
Symptomatic Individuals
Polydipsia, polyuria, unintentional weight loss, fatigue, or visual disturbance may indicate undiagnosed diabetes.
How to Prepare
Fast for 10–12 hours before your appointment
Avoid food and drinks other than water. This is necessary for accurate fasting glucose, lipid, and metabolic marker results.
Stay well hydrated
Drink plenty of water before your appointment. Good hydration makes it easier for the registered nurse to draw your blood sample.
Bring a list of current medications
Some medications can affect biomarker levels. Knowing what you take helps our team interpret your results accurately.
Avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours beforehand
Intense physical activity can temporarily affect certain blood markers including liver enzymes, muscle markers, and hormone levels.
Attend your appointment at either Central London clinic
