About the Antenatal Infection & Immunity Screening
Our Antenatal Infection & Immunity Screening is available at St Paul's Medical and Dental, 5 Ave Maria Lane, London EC4M 7AQ. Located near St Paul's Cathedral in the City of London, our clinic offers convenient access for professionals working in the Square Mile. This screening includes 14 biomarkers with results available in 3 working days, priced at £699 inclusive of blood draw by a registered nurse.
Antenatal screening is recommended during pregnancy to check for infections and immune status that could affect maternal or fetal health. The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) recommends testing for HIV, hepatitis B, syphilis, and rubella immunity as part of routine antenatal care. This screening panel covers these key infections alongside additional markers relevant to pregnancy health.
Rubella (German measles) immunity is important to confirm, as rubella infection during pregnancy can cause serious birth defects. Hepatitis B screening is recommended because the virus can be transmitted from mother to baby during birth, and early identification allows for neonatal vaccination. HIV and syphilis screening enable timely treatment that can significantly reduce the risk of transmission. Blood group and antibody testing is also included to identify potential blood group incompatibility.
Our City of London clinic is open Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM. The clinic is a short walk from St Paul’s Underground station (Central line) and City Thameslink rail station. Appointments are available throughout the day, and results include a detailed nurse-written review. To book your Antenatal Infection & Immunity Screening, call 020 7183 3709 or book online.

Who Should Take This Test?
First Trimester Pregnancy
Early pregnancy is optimal for this screening to permit timely intervention or monitoring where indicated.
Pre-Conception Planning
Testing before pregnancy allows time to address issues including vaccination for rubella or varicella if non-immune.
Fertility Treatment
Many fertility clinics require this screening before initiating treatment.
Supplementary to NHS Screening
This panel provides additional coverage beyond standard NHS antenatal screening.
How to Prepare
Fast for 10–12 hours before your appointment
Avoid food and drinks other than water. This is necessary for accurate fasting glucose, lipid, and metabolic marker results.
Stay well hydrated
Drink plenty of water before your appointment. Good hydration makes it easier for the registered nurse to draw your blood sample.
Bring a list of current medications
Some medications can affect biomarker levels. Knowing what you take helps our team interpret your results accurately.
Avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours beforehand
Intense physical activity can temporarily affect certain blood markers including liver enzymes, muscle markers, and hormone levels.
