About the Testicular Cancer Blood Screening
Our Testicular Cancer Blood Screening is available at St Paul's Medical and Dental, 5 Ave Maria Lane, London EC4M 7AQ. Located near St Paul's Cathedral in the City of London, our clinic offers convenient access for professionals working in the Square Mile. This screening includes 3 biomarkers with results available in 1 working day, priced at £249 inclusive of blood draw by a registered nurse.
Testicular cancer is the most common cancer in men aged 15–49 in the UK, with around 2,300 new cases each year according to Cancer Research UK. It has one of the highest treatment success rates among cancers, particularly when identified early. This screening measures tumour markers including Alpha-Fetoprotein (AFP), Beta-hCG, and Lactate Dehydrogenase (LDH), which are proteins that can be elevated in certain types of testicular cancer.
These markers are not elevated in all cases of testicular cancer, and elevated levels can also occur due to other conditions. However, baseline measurement and trend monitoring can provide useful information alongside physical examination. Men who have had an undescended testicle, a family history of testicular cancer, or a previous testicular condition may benefit from periodic screening.
Our City of London clinic is open Monday to Thursday, 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The clinic is a short walk from St Paul’s Underground station (Central line) and City Thameslink rail station. Appointments are available throughout the day, and results include a detailed nurse-written review. To book your Testicular Cancer Blood Screening, call 020 7183 3709 or book online.

Clinical Indications for Tumour Marker Assessment
Testicular cancer is the most common malignancy in men aged 15-44. Early-stage disease has excellent prognosis with cure rates exceeding 95%. This blood test measures three established tumour markers that may be elevated in testicular germ cell tumours.
Testicular malignancy has excellent prognosis when identified early
Routine venepuncture with minimal discomfort
Measures AFP, Beta-HCG, and LDH tumour markers
Results typically available within 1 working day
Baseline establishment for at-risk individuals
Appropriate for post-treatment surveillance
Who Should Take This Test?
Men Aged 15-44
Testicular cancer predominantly affects younger men. Those in this age group with risk factors should consider periodic assessment.
Established Risk Factors
Men with history of cryptorchidism (undescended testis), family history of testicular cancer, or previous contralateral malignancy have elevated risk.
Clinical Findings
Palpable testicular mass, swelling, or asymmetry warrants tumour marker assessment alongside physical examination.
Post-Treatment Surveillance
Men who have completed treatment for testicular cancer require regular tumour marker monitoring as directed by their oncology team.
How to Prepare
Stay well hydrated
Drink plenty of water before your appointment. Good hydration makes it easier for the registered nurse to draw your blood sample.
Bring a list of current medications
Some medications can affect biomarker levels. Knowing what you take helps our team interpret your results accurately.
Avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours beforehand
Intense physical activity can temporarily affect certain blood markers including liver enzymes, muscle markers, and hormone levels.
