About the Erectile Dysfunction Blood Screening
Our Erectile Dysfunction Blood Screening is available at St Paul's Medical and Dental, 5 Ave Maria Lane, London EC4M 7AQ. Located near St Paul's Cathedral in the City of London, our clinic offers convenient access for professionals working in the Square Mile. This screening includes 11 biomarkers with results available in 3 working days, priced at £349 inclusive of blood draw by a registered nurse.
Erectile dysfunction (ED) affects an estimated 1 in 5 men over the age of 40, according to NHS data, and becomes more common with age. While often considered a standalone condition, ED can be an early indicator of underlying cardiovascular, metabolic, or hormonal conditions. This screening measures testosterone levels, thyroid function, lipid profile, fasting glucose, HbA1c, and prolactin to assess common physiological causes that may contribute to erectile difficulties.
Low testosterone is one recognised cause of ED, but vascular health is equally important — the blood vessels supplying the penile tissue are smaller than coronary arteries, and changes to blood flow may manifest as ED before other cardiovascular symptoms appear. Thyroid disorders, diabetes, and hyperprolactinaemia can also contribute. This screening provides objective data to help identify treatable physiological factors, supporting informed discussions with a healthcare professional about management options.
Our City of London clinic is open Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM. The clinic is a short walk from St Paul’s Underground station (Central line) and City Thameslink rail station. Appointments are available throughout the day, and results include a detailed nurse-written review. To book your Erectile Dysfunction Blood Screening, call 020 7183 3709 or book online.

Erectile Dysfunction Assessment
Erectile dysfunction affects a significant proportion of men over 40. It is frequently symptomatic of underlying systemic conditions that benefit from intervention. This panel screens for diabetes, cardiovascular risk factors, hormonal imbalance, thyroid dysfunction, and prostatic disease—the most common organic causes of erectile dysfunction.
Screen for diabetes and prediabetes (major contributor to ED)
Assess cardiovascular risk and lipid profile
Evaluate testosterone and hormonal status
Screen for thyroid dysfunction
Include PSA for prostate health assessment
Results inform appropriate management approach
Who Should Take This Test?
Men with Erectile Difficulties
Difficulty achieving or maintaining erections warrants investigation for treatable underlying causes.
Men Over 40
Erectile dysfunction prevalence increases with age. Screening can identify risk factors before symptomatic presentation.
Established Risk Factors
Obesity, smoking, hypertension, diabetes, or cardiovascular disease increase erectile dysfunction risk.
Prior to Pharmacotherapy
Identifying underlying causes ensures appropriate treatment selection rather than symptomatic management alone.
How to Prepare
Fast for 10–12 hours before your appointment
Avoid food and drinks other than water. This is necessary for accurate fasting glucose, lipid, and metabolic marker results.
Stay well hydrated
Drink plenty of water before your appointment. Good hydration makes it easier for the registered nurse to draw your blood sample.
Book a morning appointment if possible
Hormone levels, particularly testosterone, are typically highest in the morning. For the most informative results, an early appointment is recommended.
Bring a list of current medications
Some medications can affect biomarker levels. Knowing what you take helps our team interpret your results accurately.
Avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours beforehand
Intense physical activity can temporarily affect certain blood markers including liver enzymes, muscle markers, and hormone levels.
