Take a painkiller as directed on the pack. If you are unsure which is suitable alongside your medication, a pharmacist can advise in minutes.

Rinse with warm salt water and keep the area clean; avoid chewing on the affected side.

Bring any broken fragment, lost crown or dislodged filling, kept moist in milk.

Bring a list of your medicines and any previous X-rays or letters from your own dentist if you have them.

Do not place aspirin on the gum, and do not apply heat to a swollen face.
Take any painkiller only as directed on the pack, never place aspirin against the gum, and ask a pharmacist if you already take other medicines.

Abscess and swelling
Drainage and definitive treatment of the tooth on the same visit or within days, rather than antibiotics as a holding measure.
Broken tooth
The full range of repairs is available: bonding, onlays, ceramic crowns and, where appropriate, re-attaching your own fragment.
Lost crown or filling
Re-cementing or replacement with tooth-coloured materials as standard, not as an upgrade.
Wisdom tooth infection
Irrigation, dressing and, where indicated, extraction by the same team, with referral to an oral surgeon only for genuinely complex cases.
Failed dental work
A loose implant crown, a fractured veneer or a broken bridge can be assessed and stabilised promptly, with a plan for the definitive repair.

Fees are published in full so that you can weigh them against the NHS alternative before you book. Nothing is added for evening or Saturday sessions, and nothing beyond the assessment is charged until you have agreed to it in writing.

Afterwards
- Follow the written instructions specific to your treatment and use pain relief as directed on the pack.
- Expect a courtesy call or message the following day after any significant procedure; tell us if anything feels wrong before then.
- Attend the review appointment even when the pain has gone; it confirms healing and catches problems early.
- Keep your written plan. It sets out what is finished, what remains and what each stage costs.
- If you have a regular dentist elsewhere, we can send them a summary and X-ray copies on request.
- Consider a routine examination with us once settled; most emergencies begin as something a check-up would have found.

Questions patients ask
An NHS urgent appointment is a fixed Band 1 charge and covers the examination plus whatever emergency treatment can be provided in that slot. Our new-patient assessment is £30, with treatment priced separately as listed. The private route generally costs more overall but gives you a choice of when you are seen, which dentist you see and which materials are used.
Yes, for new patients. It covers the examination, diagnosis and written plan. X-rays are £20 each where clinically required. Treatment is only added once you have agreed to it.
No. Every option is set out, including the most conservative and the cheapest, with the advantages and disadvantages of each. Many emergencies are resolved with a dressing or a re-cemented crown.
We are a private practice and you pay us directly; we provide itemised receipts and completed claim forms so you can reclaim from your insurer under the terms of your policy.
Not yet. The Marylebone clinic opens on 1 October 2026. Until then, the same clinicians see private emergencies at South Kensington seven days a week and at St Paul’s on weekdays, with same-day emergency appointments available where the diary allows.
Most emergencies are handled in-house. Where a case needs an endodontist, oral surgeon or periodontist, we refer you promptly and explain the likely costs first.
